How to Find Your Vehicle Paint Code in Pakistan

by AL-Khan Paints 22 Sep 2026

Short answer: Your vehicle paint code is usually printed on the manufacturer’s identification label or plate. Depending on the vehicle, check the driver-side door jamb, engine bay or firewall, glove box, boot area, or the space near the spare wheel. The exact location varies by make, model, and year.

What is a vehicle paint code?

A vehicle paint code is the manufacturer’s reference for the original exterior colour. It can contain letters, numbers, or both. It is more reliable than a colour name because similar names and shades can differ between manufacturers, models, and production years.

Where should you look?

  • Driver-side door jamb: Check the label on the door frame or pillar.
  • Engine bay or firewall: Look for a metal plate or printed manufacturer label.
  • Boot or spare-wheel area: Some vehicles place the identification label under the boot floor or near the spare wheel.
  • Glove box, service book, or owner’s manual: The code may appear with the vehicle identification details.
  • Motorcycles and scooters: Check the frame label, under-seat area, or manufacturer documentation.

The paint code might be labelled Paint, Color, Colour, CLR, C/TR, or another manufacturer-specific abbreviation. Do not assume every number on the label is the paint code.

What if you cannot find the code?

Note your vehicle’s make, model, year, and variant, then contact the manufacturer, an authorised dealer, or an experienced automotive colour-matching shop. A clear photograph of the identification label is more useful than a photo of the painted panel. Camera settings, lighting, fading, and previous repairs can make a panel photo look different from the actual colour.

Does the paint code always guarantee an exact match?

The paint code is the correct starting point, but the final appearance can still be affected by age, sunlight, weathering, previous repainting, application method, and the underlying surface. Older or repaired vehicles may need professional colour comparison before a larger repair.

Using the code for minor touch-ups

For small automotive scratches, chips, hairline marks, and spot repairs, AL-Khan Paints can prepare a CRONO Paint Pen according to the customer’s vehicle paint code. If the code is unknown, provide the vehicle make and model or contact us for guidance. CRONO Paint Pen is an automotive tinter touch-up product for vehicles; it is not a replacement for a fully cured professional topcoat or a complete panel repair.
